Thank You PTO

The PTO has bought perennials for the new perennial gardens!! So during capers today, Acorn teachers took groups of children out to plant.  As some of you may know, planting with children takes twice as long- lol. but they do love digging in the dirt, getting grounded and finding treasures.

We recruited the Sycamore Room as well to help out or we would have never finished.  The plants look amazing and we can not thank the PTO enough for coming out for the weeding party and purchasing plants, so that we may have a beautiful garden come Spring!

The other offering outside was playing in the butterfly garden with the train set that we have stashed in the shed.

As we communicated last week, I have included the blogs from the other capering classes.  Check out all the exploration going on indoors.

Family Chat Sticks

We will start family chats next week. At family chats students will create something special with their families.  Today we found sticks for their special creation.  We found many sticks of different lengths.  Then we explored the forest. The forest is a great place to run and climb and have fun!

First Train Siting

I'm not sure who was more excited to see a train.... the adults? or the children?  We only saw the tail end of the train.  So, next Wednesday we will leave the building earlier in hopes to see the WHOLE TRAIN!!  The importance of the train, is that we hear the whistle daily while playing on our playscape. Along with the firetruck and the ambulance.

Self Portriats

Today, we started our loose part self-portraits.  We are trying to connect shapes and loose part self-portraits.  It will take us awhile to get there..... as you may know, we have a lot going on. Learning to cough in our sleeve, blowing our noses and washing our hands, putting on our own coats and figuring out how to take care of our own needs while learning to use the restroom.  It is week 7 and we are making great strides!!

Monday Fun Day

Today we reviewed our routines and procedures. We practiced coughing and sneezing into our elbows.  Some of the children practiced putting on their jackets.  Then we had a Monday Fun Day! We built with loose parts, played with cell phones in cardboard boxes, did puzzles, scooped bird seed, made shapes in floam, and played with dinosaurs and sand outside.
