Today, we made it to our original train viewing spot. It is the first time this year!! Way to go Acorns!! Unfortunately we did not see a train. We did make it to our secret bridge, have secret snack and played in a fountain.

Today we practiced how to vote. We were gifted some branches and the children wanted to paint them so, we looked at our paint and decided to vote on two colors. Blue and Red. This process of voting took quite a bit of time. We modeled how to make a mark, we then allowed each child a chance to vote. We then counted the votes. We discussed which number was bigger and which number was smaller. Then, we painted the branch.
Our Magic Sand table was open today during caper day, we also had loose part self-portraits, the sensory table, the light table with shapes and the "Enveloping Schema" open. We put the triangles on their side so that they might get in. We also have a hidden quiet area under the windows that one might get inside.
Our plans for the day swiftly changed once we had our severe weather drill. Some of the children could not stop talking about where to go when thunder and lightning happen. Our safe place at school is the girls hallway restroom. The safe place at home is the basement (incase you are told later today)
The original plan was to make loose part self portraits from the nature we collected yesterday. We also have shapes and the light table, a shape matching game at the sensory table and and new places to go inside of or on top of (which is the enclosure schema).
Acorns explored the Forest this morning and collected nature. Acorns took a bag to the Forest in hopes of gathering nature to use later this week. They took turns carrying the bag. They found lots of sticks and held the bag open for each other. They also enjoyed climbing on logs and playing in the dirt. A. even found a toad!
Today after we explored the room….. hiding and getting in tight spaces ( the tunnel under the tree house) we went on a walk to see if we might see a train! Along the way we found shapes. O- found an oval, M - found several circles. We then walked by the biggest tree in the WG (I think it is the biggest, I may be wrong).
