Forest Day!!

 Today the children walked into a room that was quite different than when they left it yesterday.  We found a bigger rug for story time/group time and had to move some things around.  Now there is an area specifically for Dance Party Friday!  You will see those photos tommorrow when we break in our new Wish Sticks!!   

Forest Day-

At the forest today we explored, climbed and cut leaves!  While in the forest, we sailed along in a sailboat, got to shore, and went on a treasure hunt (we searched for leaves).  Once we had plenty of treasure we met on the blue blanket and everyone picked a leaf, and received a pair of scissors. We were amazed how long the children sat with their leaf and cut it with the scissors!  The Acorns are always surprising us with their concentration.

                             G- Chipmunks pooped on the log. T- POOP!! G- Stinky poop. 

As we laid under our favorite tree in the forest, the children were telling us they could see.  They saw green leaves.  The blue sky, brown and black branches, and some yellow leaves.  Our observation skills are improving!!

                H- Look at that pit! There are sticks in the pit. I'm going in the pit. We can go in there. 

Today, we voted on which stick book we liked the best!  Ms. Jesse and Ms. Dee Dee stood with each book on the carpet.  The children voted with their bodies on which book they liked the best!

Walking Wednesday

 Today for Walking Wednesday, we went to the sculpture park.  We first went to the egg side and tried to climb onto the eggs.  We kept sliding off,  why is it wet?  Then we talked about dew. The eggs were covered with dew.  Luckily we a packed a parachute for some fun.  We then, went over to the bird side.  There is a metal sculpture on that side and we packed magnetic wands to try an experiment.  Five children at a time received a magnetic wand and tested out theories. LB- knew he was playing with a magnet. AS- told be it stuck to the wall of the house. FH- said she tested the grass and the sidewalk and it did not stick. Most of the children were so fascinated with testing out what the wand would stick to that they did not answer questions. 

Prior to going on our walk, we read We're Going on a Bear Hunt and acted out the story with Bear Hunt props. We also read Stick, again.  Story time is an extremely important time of our day as we are practicing early literacy skills. 

                                                             K found a fuzzy acorn hat.

                                                           "It's sticking to the wall."

                                                                          "Me too."

                                                                 "It stuck over here."

                                          "Now they are testing to see if it sticks to the tree."

                                                            Now they are testing the wall. 

                                                         "It sticks to the wall of the house."

                                                                   We wore him out.....
