Forest Day

It was a very cold day for the forest and with all the rain we had yesterday, we decided to give it a try.  We went over class agreements, and how the classroom agreements are also the agreements for the walk to the forest, and apply while in the forest.  We didn't make it.  We made it halfway up Jefferson and pulled the plug. Too many children were being unsafe on the walk. So we headed back to the AFC.   Once we returned to the AFC, we took deep breaths, calmed our bodies and opened a few activities. One of my favorites is the letter hunt on the tree house!!

Rainy Wednesday

Thank goodness we walked yesterday, today was a wash out.  We are still preparing our art auction item, and have been practicing with water colors and symbols.  We also had some gross motor in the gym, rode the train, worked with the phones and paper, explored the sensory table, stacked cups at the light table, had fun with the magnets and read a ton of books.

Walking Tuesday

We went for a walk today, as tomorrows forecast has a 99% chance of rain.  We walked around the block and spotted a fire truck parked outside on Gray.  We sat on the sidewalk searching for symbols on the fire truck.  Some of us saw the letters in our name.  Some of us saw shapes, numbers and we listed all the colors.  We then turned the corner and saw a bucket truck (or cherry picker),  there was a man in the bucket with a long saw trimming a very tall tree!

We have been working tirelessly on our Auction Piece and it is coming together nicely.  Our PTO Room Parent has dropped off an envelope if anyone would like to donate to the Acorn Basket for Night at the Forest!!

Happy Monday

The children were excited to reconnect this morning.  We read stories, went over our class agreements and enjoyed each others company.  We went on a short walk to our favorite bush, L- started creating a fire with a pile of sticks, and AK added to it, saying it was a nature pile.

We then, headed back to the classroom to work on symbols and get some fine motor/sensory activates in, along with letter recognition. By the time lunch rolled around they were starving!! They all ate a great lunch today!!

Forest Thursday

With the weather so nice, we were able to get to the forest early. When we got to the forest, we laid on the tarp and looked at our tree again. There are still no leaves,  it the sun was very bright. There was a fire drill this morning, so we participated without having to hear the loud alarm in the building. Have a fun and safe Spring Break!
