Straubs

After our taste test of Mac and Cheese yesterday, we decided to walk to Straubs, and make mac and cheese from scratch.
The children are becoming experts at putting on their own shoes and coats... (yes, we are still practicing putting on our own shoes and coats.)
We walked to Straubs and sat on a wonderful bench.  Then we all made a silly face.
Some of us were tired and decided to sit out going in to purchase ingredients.   K- was a little upset with us, because we just came out with ingredients, not hot mac and cheese.
After Straubs, we took the long way back to school, hoping to see a train.
The trains never disappoint! If you look closely you will see a train in the back ground.

We are planning on going to the forest Wednesday.
Please send appropriate hats and mittens if it is cold outside.

We've noticed our friends frequently pretending to cook or eat mac n cheese. We also have heard a lot of them specifically talking about bread co cheese. So we started asking them about how to cook mac n cheese. One friend said, "You need a kitchen we don't have a kitchen here." Another friend said, "Bread co mac n cheese has to stay at bread co." We decided to cook boxed mac n cheese and also pick up bread co's so that we could have a taste test to compare.
Once we were in the kitchen one friend told us that at his house they use fire to make mac n cheese. We talked about how we don't have fire at school but we can use our cook top and a pot to warm up the water.

"It looks like mac n cheese."
We also noticed the difference between the noodles that came right out of the box and the cooked noodles. When they were in the box friends noticed that they were hard and when they shook the box it was loud. Once the noodles were cooked friends said, "They squish."
We brought back our warmed up bread co mac n cheese and our cooked mac n cheese and offered both to everyone to try. We then voted on which one they liked best (Yellow or white) and the white (Bread co) won.

After everyone had the chance to try both we tallied up their votes.
We also celebrated a friend's birthday today! She got to pick two friends to help her use bingo daubers on a coffee filter and then we all sang to her.

Small Caper Thursday!!

C-was found in the seedling kitchen...
Since we are closed on Friday, we decided to have a small caper day today.  The acorns had the treehouse open with our new observation deck ready to see if the birds like their bird feeder.... It seems the children like to climb, walk and then jump off of it.

R- is playing with the loose parts...

 C- found the sensory table...
J- ventured out of the acorn room and found a picnic!
T- was found in the seedling room....
K- was moving fast on the obstacle course in the hallway
N,M and CE were found in the rocket ship in the willow room...

Have a great three day weekend! We will be busy on Friday with Professional Development!!

Forest Adventure

Today we headed into the forest! Friends were excited to see that the "trampolene" was still there. One friend asked "Is it bouncy?" Another friend said, "Yeah it is."

"Look what I found. What is it?"
Some friends worked on pulling themselves up onto a fallen log where they then crawled up it and back down.

"I did it."

We also played a game of tag in the field.
"I'm gonna get you."

"There's a ghost over there." "It's a spooky ghost."

The Birds

Today, we noticed birds on our bird feeder,  This was very exciting for the children, all the children wanted to be on the tree house to see the birds outside are window.
So, we decided to move the bench so that more of could see the birds at once. The photos show the children helping solve a problem.

The more we moved across the room, the more acorns started to help.

The closer we got to our destination, the more furniture we had to move....

 Almost there.....

We made it!
