Walking Wednesday

Walking Wednesday fell short today, we went to our train viewing spot, and still no train.  Good thing we carry snack everywhere we go!  We then went to see the biggest tree in the WG, but the sprinkler system was on and we couldn't hug the tree.  After lunch we headed out for another adventure. This time we had success, we snuck over to the big playscape and explored the snail.

While exploring the snail, some of the children decided to play a game of counting then saying ready or not here I come. We love all the counting!!!  We must be rubbing off onto the children, as we count everytime we line up, stop for train viewings, go inside, go outside, ect.  We count constantly making sure we have everyone before we leave a space.

Birdfeeder

Today we filled the bird feeder, we counted how many scoops would fill the feeder.   As we counted, I asked the children what number is next?  Some answered correctly. Some answered skipping a few numbers.  We will get there!  It is completely age appropriate for children this age to skip numbers in between.

'No birds,"  We then went on a short walk to look for birds.  We walked down the street and around the corner before we found some birds.  We spotted them across the street on a stone fence.  They then flew away.  We will continue to monitor the bird feeder out our window and keep everyone up to date.

Adventure

The children came in ready to go this morning.  There were very few tears and the one we had were quickly resolved.  After the morning invitations, which were: Shadows, Floam, markers and paper, and of course the tree house!  We then walked to see if we could see a train.  Last week when we were on the little playscape we heard the whistle of a train and decided to go check it out.

Reminders-  Please remember to check your child into Brightwheel in the mornings!!  Thanks

Shadows!!!!    Last week Kelly and I noticed the children seeing and talking about their shadows on the walks we went on.  Today after our morning invitations, a few on the children wanted to figure out how to get that big light down to make shadow puppets.

Walking to see if we could see a train,  they paired up!!  Look at them holding hands.

Birthday Celebration!

We celebrated our first Acorn Turning three.  At this point in the game, it isn't age appropriate for our class to decide on the Birthday Celebrations,. So, Kelly and I have decided the Birthday Celebration Creation. We scoured celebrations from the past and came up with...... The Birthday Child will decorate the letter of their first name!!  We then have a dance party, and sing Happy Birthday!

Other happenings-

We Capered for the first time in 2 years!!  We were so excited to open our doors in the South Wing of the school, and allow the children to choose what and where to explore, collaborate and create.  A bunch of old Acorns came to visit, the new Acorns stayed close to home.   It usually takes the Acorns awhile to get the confidence to leave our room and explore others.
