Spring is in the Air!

The Acorns have been loving working in the garden and there has been lots of talk of all the lovely signs of spring we’ve been seeing, so we decided it was a good time to switch out some of our books for more springtime and gardening books. The first book we looked at as a class was “Jack’s Garden,” which was the inspiration for the Acorns drawing their own garden pictures.

After that, we were happy to get back in the swing of things with Walking Wednesday. We went down to the sculpture park, had a snack, and played on the bird. I love going to the sculpture park because the Acorns are always so eager to encourage and help one another, and it is so great being able to see their kindness and helpfulness in action. 😃 They are truly an amazing group of kids! Terrific Tuesady

 Today we started off the day sorting by number with a deck of cards.  The children worked together to figure out how to take turns so that everyone could put their cards in the correct pile.   We then broke up into different areas of the classroom,  they could choose to make shapes with the rubber bands, examine the snake skin and document what they see, work on Sky Color ,  and the rainbow habitat was open.

We then went out to the garden and removed weeds, collected sticks, created a ferrie garden, and explored the trains.

Re-Connecting

 We spent the morning talking about all our adventures while we were apart, from jellyfish to rives, caves, hikes and the zoo.  The children were so busy and full of excitement!  Once we had our long discussion about break, we opened up our habitats,  examined a snake skin, drew pictures, and explored the kinetic sand. 

We read Lola plants a garden, and then we watched a video on how to prepare a vegetable garden, then The Carrot Seed, an old favorite!!  While we were outside, we were busy pulling weeds and adding them to our compost bin.  The acorns are great little helpers....

Best Day EVER!

Happy Thursday! 
As you know, the Acorns voted to have a pajama day today, and apparently lollipops were also part of the deal. Jammies and lollies.. livin' the dream, eh? It was a fun way to spend our last day together.
This morning, we continued to work on writing our letters and we also did an obstacle course, yoga, and lots of sensory activities.
Right before lunch, there was a surprise. The fire department stopped by this morning to complete their routine inspections, and can you guess who one of the firefighters was?! That's right... None other than Firefighter Jim! Of course, the Acorns were SO excited to see him again. He told them thank you for the awesome pictures they made him, and went on about how much he loved them and how he shared them with the rest of the firefighters. 😁 It was a really cool way to end our morning.
We will miss seeing all of our Acorns next week-- we hope you all have a relaxing, fun, and safe spring break!

Wacky Weather Wednesday

 We were prepared to be indoors today, because of the rain..... but then the rain did not come.... we then went outside, and then of course it started to rain...  Just our luck!

We (The Acorns ) decided to celebrate the fact that WE have made it ALL the way to Spring Break Happy and Healthy!!! So, in celebration  of our health we decided to have a PAJAMA DAY THURSDAY MARCH 18th  The vote was unanimous. We then talked about a special snack, and discussed how some of our friends have allergies and we need a snack that everyone can eat. We voted between marshmallows and Suckers. Suckers won!!! 

Other happenings. we had a fire drill, we created a sea habitat, added sensory beads to our rainbow habitat, and had the dry erase markers out....
