A few friends took our clay beads to the kiln this morning. When they got back we asked them why they did that and one friend said, "To get fired." We asked what the firing does for the clay and one friend said, "It makes them hard." another friend added "and shiny." Many of them seem to remember what the process entailed when we created our gifts and we are curious what they will do with the beads once they are done in the kiln.
We also created a pathway to the Birch Room again. It's been a while since we've done this but friends seemed to remember solutions to the problems they encounter like running out of pieces. We successfully made it down to their room and we talked about the other classrooms that are in that hall.
It's hard to believe that their time as Acorns is quickly coming to an end and they will be in those 3-5 year old rooms. :(
We also explored pathways in the Acorn room. We enlarged a photograph of a pathway in sand and friends were able to trace the path with dry erase markers under plexiglass.
Other friends worked together to create a pathway on the carpet with blocks.
