Bird feeders and PJ Day

Last week we made bird feeders to take home. Please bring your bird feeder home and join your child in finding a special place to hang the feeder.  Parents- PLEASE take a photo of you and your family hanging the bird feeder so that WE might make another Acorn Class Book. 

Today we celebrated the last school day of 2022 with a Pajama Day! 

 The Acorn Teachers would like to thank everyone for the thoughtful gifts. You are all very generous and kind, and we appreciate you! Thank you!!

Bristol Bravos

 The Bristol Bravos came today!!  It was very fun and exciting to see the 5th graders come over to sing for us.  I even saw a few 5th graders I taught while working here at the AFC! SO Fun!!

 

 

Other happenings....

We had to go out to the big playscape and put the fire pit away. So the children explored the trains that I have hidden in the shed on the big playscape.

Last Monday before Winter Break!

 First the Acorn Teachers would like to Thank everyone for the thoughtful gifts.  You are all very generous and kind, and we appreciate you.

Today the children noticed that the bird feeder was empty.  We not only filled the birds feeder, but we also heard that if we bring in the suet container and fill with citrus peels from Willow's Study The Straight Noodle Restaurant-  the birds will eat the peel. So, we are making connections all over the place!  We are making connections with nature, our community and Willow!! 

We worked on fine motor, with floam and scissors,  Kinetic sand, filling the suet container with citrus peels, plus plus blocks and loose part cell phones.

Fun Friday

Caper Thursday!

Today we decided to caper with Willow, Maple, and Seedling Rooms instead of going to the forest.  We continued to explore shadows and added new material to our shelf.  We added circles to the light table and played with the pebbles and scoops in the sensory table.  We created play popsicles with our playdough and fancy towers with our rainbow blocks. We also made some cool creations with our magnets.

Kindling Collection

 Today after our morning exploration, we bundled up to collect some kinneling for the fire tomorrow.  The Acorns did a wonderful job picking up dried up sticks.  We then went to the BIG playscape so one of the Acorn teachers could dig the firepit out of the shed.  Once back inside, we explored some more and then went to lunch.  By the time lunch rolled around, the rain started.  So, we turned off all the lights and gave every Acorn a flashlight and had flashlight fun in the block area and treehouse.
