Perch and Playdough

Wow- I think we did everything there is to do in the Acorn Room today.  We had the birds projected on the wall and the "perch" out.  All the Acorns enjoyed 'flying' from the perch.  We made playdough so that we might make nests tomorrow, we had the shadow area open, the rubber bands to make shapes, kinetic sand, the sensory table and much much more.  Cold days are here to stay....

We have had some potty training questions-

We send the children to the potty at 8:30 AM after breakfast.

The new potty goers go again around 9:45

We send everyone at 11:30 after lunch

We nap with pull-up's/diapers on

They all go to the potty at 2:45

and again at 4:00

MATH

Today we voted on how to decorate the large nest in our classroom, pictured in the video below.  The choices were to either decorate with nature or with yarn. Once everyone voted, we tallied, and decided which number was bigger and which number won.  Nature WON!  So, after our fire drill(which the Acorns did a wonderful job) we walked around the block to collect nature to decorate the nest.  On our walk we stopped and climbed in our favorite bush, that is where we received a few boo boos.....

Forest Day

We heard through the grapevine that the forest was free today.  We were excited to go check on our cupcake bird feeders.  The children wanted to see if they would still be hanging on the tree branches.

Once we got to the forest and started to look around, we noticed a few pieces of red yarn with nothing attached.  S- "They ate the cupcake!".  We will have to talk with the children to see what to do next.  We will keep you posted.

B asked? "Hungry?" M. goes over the B at the log and orders ice cream.

I can do it MYSELF

Since the start of school, we have been busy working on independence, self soothing and empathy.  We realize we blog a ton of information about what we are "doing" (birds, nests, etc.) in the Acorn Room.  The behind the scene is the independence (self-help) self soothing, and empathy.  So, we are going to be away from each other for 5 days, please help us in continuing the good work.  Yes, I mean potty training, dressing oneself- including socks, shoes, coat!!!!!  Your children put on their own pull ups, pants etc.

We hope you have a great holiday and we are so grateful to have such wonderful families.  Enjoy your time together, they are growing up fast.

How many pictures of the Acorns does it take to get a good one??

Forest Day!!

Today we went to the forest to hang our cupcake bird feeders with Seedling Room.  While we were there we took advantage of the empty space and ran around and had a mini forest day.  Then Dogwood and Sycamore showed up!  We hung out with them for a few minutes and then headed back to school for lunch.

WE WILL HAVE A PAJAMA DAY TOMORROW~

What are you making over there E?  "I made houses."

Now we are hanging our cupcake birdfeeders!

We then examined a bird nest -  is the inside of the nest soft or hard?
