In and around the WG

Our intention was to take the long way to the forest...
M and K found a path along the way...

 we found sticks and acorns...
and left a tiny pinecone as a gift.

Unfortunately once we got to the forest, we saw that three other classrooms were there....
So, we continued on our path to the biggest tree in the WG.

Acorns planting acorns

Today we read a book called Because of an Acorn we then talked with our friends about planting our own acorns. The first step is soaking them in water so each friend got a chance to pick an acorn and place it in a cup of water.

pathways with the sand, sea and shells

Earlies today the children started talking about the sea.  So we changed the projection to someone kayaking in the ocean.
The tree house then became a boat.
 "I am driving the boat."-L
"When do I get a turn to drive?"-N

 "Look at this one."

Strengthing our hands and fingers with a little playdough and scissors.

 A pathway with shells.

 A path through the sand.

Shells lined up from large to small.-R
A pathway creted with shells in the sand.-M

We are still working on finding the letters in our names in the morning on arrival.  We alternate with finding numbers and counting with one to one ratio.

Small Caper Day

Before capers the children worked in our classroom...
Clay "trinkets." Some of the children have decided to make gifts for our
favorite places.  The train tracks, the forest, the city bus.....
We added a few small tree cookies to the loose parts on the light table wondering
if the children will explore self portraits.
Some of them have been making faces, others make birthday cakes and sing
R-"happy birthday to us."Where else can you go and have a birthday
several times a week?

T-making a face.
 Sharing books with a friend.

Drawing on tiny pieces of paper using two hands and crossing the mid line.

This group is putting the large jewels that they use to make eyes on the tree cookies and putting them on their own eyes. "Look at my eyes"

These two are moving sand back and forth, making coffee and cookies for me to eat.  yum yum

During capers they had a chance to go outside for some fresh well deserved air riding trikes.
