small caper day

We wanted to thank everyone for spending time with us over the last two weeks.  We really appreciate getting to know the family members of the children in our class.  It gives us a peak of their world outside our classroom.

Some of you asked about our daily routines, and wondered what do your children really do when they are here at school.
Next week, we will try to do a day in the life of an acorn....
We will start off in the seedling room and end at frolic after our afternoon snack.

Stay tuned.....

"What is it?"

As the children become comfortable in their new surroundings and with each other, we hope to engage in a long term study.  While we are documenting the learning, we are searching for the children's interests to figure out what the long term study will be.  So far, we have noticed an interest in sensory, and movement. This week, we are challenging them with new sensory items in the tables, and are having them experiment with different ways of movement with paper on the underside of the table.  They never cease to amaze us.

Popcorn,Pizza Train

Today for walking Wednesday we walked over to see the train. Quickly a train came from the left side that seemed to be carrying coal. It was the longest train we have seen! We asked friends what they thought that train was carrying and one friend said, "Pizza and popcorn!" We then saw a Amtrak train and attached a video for you. When it came by one friend stood up and clapped.

"We are taking the bus to the zoo."

 "I am the driver!"

" I am calling my mom on the phone, hello mommy." "I'm calling my mom too."

 "Ms. DeeDee, I see you."
"We are going to the zoo."

We broke into small groups, some of us rode the bus, some of us went to the kitchen to make playdough. while riding the bus, we also had water colors and cloud dough.

During the process of making playdough, we sang happy birthday several times...."It looks like mash potatoes."
