Final Posting 2021

As we come to a close of an unprecedented pandemic year, we take time to reflect and reminisce. First we want to THANK ALL of you for keeping us all safe and COVID-19 FREE! We have all made sacrifices to be open and stay safe, and we can’t thank you enough for keeping all of us happy and healthy. 

 The children have grown so much, they have learned new skills, formed relationships, and built community.  We are so proud of all their accomplishments.

 A recent accomplishment was creating a story about an animal of their choice. We revisited these stories over a period of weeks. Some of the stories have a title, some have letter strings, all have wonderful heartfelt illustrations.  When the children read their stories, it is always the same story they created, I know, not all stories have written words, but that doesn’t mean the pictures don’t tell the story.... We filmed the children three different times, the videos below reflect the best of the three... Enjoy!

Sink or Float and a Special Surprise!

What a fun and busy day! We began with Walking Wednesday-- we made it all over town this morning. We first decided to have one last look at our "secret" bridges. We walked across and then went underneath to look again at the structure and how they were being supported. Then we headed over to the fountains to perform an experiment.

Before we left, each Acorn picked a small object from the classroom. When we got to the fountain, we explained that we were going to try a "sink or float" experiment, and everyone had to made a prediction about whether their item would sink or float. Then everyone got to test out their object and see if their predictions were correct!

On the way back to school, we stopped at the biggest tree in the WG and gave it one final Acorn hug. Then it was time for the surprise!

The Kona Ice truck came to Ambrose today, and each friend got to pick a flavor for their very own snow cone! Of course, everyone was very excited about their frosty treat. It was a wonderful surprise on such a hot day. Our last week together is wrapping up with lots of fun! Don't forget tomorrow is Pajama Day!

Birthday Celebration, Part 2

Can you believe it?! We have two Acorns whose birthdays are only a day apart. Today began with H creating his special birthday artwork, and then after it was dry, he showed it to the class while we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

We brought our activities out to the playscape first thing this morning so that we could try to get some outside time in before it got too hot. The Acorns practiced writing letters with chalk, reading books, exploring water, building with legos, and each friend took a turn observing the bunny habitat and then drawing it on paper. It was another great day!
