Starting counting Monday

After working on our names at arrival for two weeks, we have started counting numbers to five. We are working on one to one correspondence, pointing to each object  as we say the number. We also had new snow books out this morning. During a meeting, we looked at any symbols on our clothes (a pointy hat makes us think of a witch). Our symbol drawings have been improving as we begin to see symbols everywhere. Some of the symbols drawn today include a turtle, a unicorn, Halloween, a rainbow, a big bow and arrow, and a robot. Continuing our ramp study, we tried using medicine droppers with water.  Finally we got to go play outside when it was warm enough.

Dance Party Friday

As you know, when the children come into the room in the morning, they have been matching the letters of their name to a name card.  They are doing a great job at this.  Next week we will work on numbers and counting.  Other happenings this morning......  the woodland animals were on a mirror with a few blocks, we had a dance party, the wooden boat was out for them to rock in, the block area was open and floam for some sensory.  Have a great weekend!

It’s Snowing!

The Acorns were so excited that it flurried while we were outside. It was not warm enough to be outside long enough to walk to the forest. We did make it outside a few times today.

Will this cold ever end?????

We have begun to work on letters... Specifically letters in our own names.  So, this week, when the children come to school and are dropped of in the Acorn room, we will first work on matching the letters of our name to our name card!  So far everyone is picking up the new twist of the routine.
