Reminiscing ...

Hello Acorn Families!  It was so nice to see each of you in person!! We miss and love you so much!

Let's start off with something fun, it is the last acorn blog..... of school year 2019-2020! The last of the PANDEMIC distance learning!!!

I know you are probably tired of me saying how much we miss your children... As we packed up the room, a few weeks ago, a flood of memories of the year came back.... Do you remember when we first met?  How nervous all the parents were about leaving you with us.... But you had a wonderful time, and learned so much! You made your first friends, you learned how to work together, you learned how to go on the potty!! ( we know some of you stopped going on the potty, you better get back on there).  We all developed new skills!  You are amazing!

Here are the first moments we were together.

Photos of the first day of school....

J- wearing his backpack for weeks...                       W- smuggling in cars all year long...

 T- hugging all the teachers....

J- and the endless amount of lovies.... all different.  T- and her love for learning new things...

All of us trying to sit on the carpet for a story.... haha

H- bringing in books to share...

O- and her purple,  and memorable "sayings"                  M-always helping! And then you could
never find where she put stuff away....

I - and her manatee... and ability to hide from the camera.

B- and his questions....

L- and her tutu's

T- and him throwing his puff balls....

C- and his love for books....

how you have all grown so much!!!

Now, our last adventure!!

Wednesday Bubbles!

Happy Wednesday, Acorns!
We had so much fun at our group zoom meeting yesterday. You all are getting so good at the games we've been playing! You found those scavenger hunt items super fast. I hope you can make it to our last zoom meeting tomorrow at 10AM!
We can't wait to see you this afternoon for the Pickup Parade-- Acorn pickup time is at 4PM. Since today is Bubble Day, expect to see some bubbles while driving through! ;) Speaking of bubbles, I had big plans to make my own bubble "juice," but the recipes called for glycerin, and glycerin is apparently very tricky to find during a pandemic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who knew! I hope you are able to enjoy some bubble-blowing today. :) See you later!

FRIDAY!!!

We made it through another fun filled week of Distance Learning!  We miss the acorns so much, it was such a joy seeing you!  We can not wait to play together again!  Until then, we have work to do around my yard. We need to fill the bird feeder, check on the plants, and finally, read a few stories.  Next week, we will be doing our learning through the blog only.  There will not be a lesson plan from GOLD. All the teachers at the AFC, collaborated to make it a fun filled week. Let's hope the weather cooperates with us!

Now, filling the bird feeder.

Freeze Pop Fun!

Hi, Acorns! Happy Wednesday! I had so much fun going on a shape hunt with you yesterday. You all are getting so big, and doing such a great job finding your shapes and colors. :) I have seen some friends working on making their letters, too! So awesome. I miss you, friends!
I just keep hoping for more warm and sunny days, but sadly those have been few and far between this week. Fingers crossed that we can get some more outside time soon! Today, freeze pops are on the agenda! Helping in the kitchen is a great way to develop those fine motor skills, work on some simple math concepts, and foster self-help skills and self confidence. Feel free to join me in making freeze pops!

And a story! Have a wonderful day!

Color Hunt

Good Morning Acorn Families!  Today, we are going to go on a color/shape hunt!  I made color cards with shapes on them with scrap paper and markers. I then placed them around my house and then matched the colors.  It is an easy game to create and to play!

Now, we are going to go uncover all my plants because it was cold Sunday night.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone!
I hope all of the Acorn mommies had a wonderful Mother's Day. You are all amazing, and are navigating these strange times like total rock stars! Thank you for all you do.
Thank you also for continuing to join in on our weekly group zoom meetings! I know everyone loves to see their friends that they're missing. Tomorrow, we plan to go on a shape hunt. No need to prepare-- it will be similar to the color hunt, only we will be looking for circles, squares, etc. instead of colors. :)
I don't know about you, but I am really missing our Forest Walk Thursdays. The Acorns really loved running through the forest and discovering all of the beauty in nature. Ms. Liz recently took a forest walk, and she was kind enough to share with us.

And now, another silly hat story. Have a great day, Acorns!

Finishing the Book Shelf and Going to the saw mill

Hello Acorns, today looks like a beautiful day, hopefully you can get outside after the rain ends, and enjoy the rain puddles (of course with social distancing in mind)! I thought we could see Ms. Debbie and her friend Mr. Jeff, finish the book shelf. We will then, head to the farm, get a tree and then take the tree to the saw mill.

Now it is story time....

Watering the Garden

Good morning, friends! Today I'm going to show you and water my garden! We have vegetables and I love going out every morning to see how they're growing and to give them water. Note, in the video I say we're growing cherries, that's false, I meant to say cherry tomatoes :) Whoops!
If you have a garden at home, go outside and water it! Missing you all and hope to see you soon!

Wacky Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday! Thank you for joining in the lovely chaos of our group zoom meeting yesterday. It is so much fun to be able to see the Acorns interact with their friends, even briefly. :)
Everyone did such a great job moving around yesterday! It helps to get those wiggles out sometimes. "Listen and Move" was a favorite activity in the classroom-- so much fun galloping, hopping, skating, and tiptoeing! If you could use a little more fun and movement, Ms. Katie was kind enough to sing another of our favorites!

Finally, to add to the list of "favorites," here is a story that the Acorns would often request! Have a great day, everyone. Talk to you soon!

Indoor Fun!

Just in case it is rainy and you can't safely go outside, here is a fun activity.  In a perfect world, I would be better at filming.... but then again, in a perfect world. I wouldn't be filming at all!! Sorry for the terrible filming!!!

We Miss you Video!!

and of course a story....

Monday Sensory Fun

Good morning, Acorns! I hope you all had a great weekend and got to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Just a reminder that we are back to our normal group zoom schedule starting tomorrow! We hope to see you all at 10AM for a little bit of silly movement to shake those wiggles out. :)
Speaking of wiggles, sensory play can be a great way to calm your mind and body. Today, dish soap putty is one of our activities. I tried it out, and I hope you can, too! Just a warning-- it is a little sticky! 😬 Have an awesome day, Acorns-- hope to see you all at our meeting tomorrow!
