"Umbe berella"

How we love the two-three's!!!

We could not decide which photos to use on today's blog....

They are ALL TOO CUTE!!!

We were determined to go to the forest today! Unfortunately our forest mates planned something else to do..... So, we walked to the forest to figure out where we would put the"Gifts" for the forest.
There were not enough "umbe berella's" to go around, so we had to share....
Some of us share better than others.....

Once in the forest, they decided between the bouncy tree, the boat and the big log.

When we finally made it back to the room, we voted between the three...... and ended up with a tie. ARGH!!!

How did that happen?

Sculpture park and Rolling Ridge Nursery

Today the Acorns went on an adventure to the sculpture park and Rolling Ridge Nursery. We talked about how we needed soil for the garden and some seeds so that we could grow fruits and vegetables. Alog the way we noticed a wall that had sea shells inside of it.

"I found a shell."

R "Where are the alligators?"
G "They are all sleeping."
Once we made it to the sculpture park friends quickly realized that the bird looks like our snail and they climbed up and sat inside of the sculpture.

"The bird has two eyes."

"I'm on it's tail."

"I found a tunnel."
We then headed to Rolling Ridge Nursery for our shopping. We asked friends what their favorite vegetables were so that we could buy some seeds. Friends green beans, pumpkin, red pepper, spinach, tomatoes and watermelon. They were eager to pick out the seeds but many of them started asking about getting to eat the food. One friend said, "Do we get to eat watermelon when we get back to school." We talked about how it will take awhile for our seeds to grow into food for us to eat.

Pathways

Today we discovered a new way to use an old toy to create pathways...
The challenge was to make the ends connect into one piece.

M-"  Its the sun."

We stopped once to regroup and figure out a way to connect the pieces.
Once everything was connected, the magic began.... large marbles!!!

The marbles were quite popular at the beginning.... then everyone figured out they would get a turn
(as they always do.)

After a wonderful morning exploring pathways indoors, we decided to head outside for a walk to decide where to leave our gifts.

The children decided to leave them at Straub's, the train, Bread Co.

Caper Friday

Today during Small Capers many of our friends had a chance to go to the gym with Sycamore teachers because their room was closed. In the Acorn room friends explored pathways in the hallway, magnets and our blocks we bought with our foundation grant.

In the Willow Room friends worked with sand in their sensory table, their dramatic play area was open, blocks and a provocation with hangers and an overhead projector.

"I'm making muffins."

"We are making a treehouse."

"I'm calling my mom."

In the Seedling Room friends had the opportunity to finger paint and their tree house was being used as a bus and friends were offering up "tickets" to ride on the bus.

"Here is my ticket."
Books were also a hit in the Seedling Room.

Colaboratori

After lunch, we usually like to go for an after lunch walk... Today we decided to go to the colaboratori and make a huge pathway with the blue blocks.
The goal was to work together and try to make it to the fort that Ms. Megan
created using our new fort clips!

I love that she is standing on a block trying to reach more blocks!
Way to go big G! Problem solving at its best!

 Making it around the room....

 connecting it to the fort....

Everyone gets involved....
