Sensory Garden

The playscape has a sensory garden that needed to be refreshed, so we got busy refreshing it. We added sand to the sand section, we added dirt to the dirt area, we swept the rock in concrete area. We took off our socks and shoes and checked it all out. We then put our socks and shoes back on and then got the diggers out. By the time we got back inside, everyone had worked very hard and we all needed a break.

Walking Wednesday!!

On Wednesdays, Carrie usually blogs.... Today we switched hours with our Co's so, I get to blog the walking Wednesday!!  Today, we went out looking for signs of Winter in and around the WG.  The children looked for reindeer, so flaks (snowflakes), and wreaths.  We counted as we went along in Old Webster.  They saw a few trains, candy canes and a menorah!  We did some window shopping and the children found a ton of things that they would like (haha).  There is a very old Winnie the Pooh in the rug store.....  along with a teddy bear, and hourse and an elf.  You do know, they would be happy with a cardboard box..... As we walked by the bank, we found a photo op and decided to take turns for you viewing pleasure.

Just look at those cute carolers!!  They all have 4 hands but one!!  LOL

We then went to see our secret bridges and performed a few experiments.  The first secret bridge we jumped on and listened to the sounds it made.  It squeaks when you jump on it!!
The second secret bridge wobbled.  (I am not sure it wobbled, but this child was sure that it did!!!)

"Hold on, I wanna jump and hear it squeak!"
"Look, you can see through it!  The door is opening!!"

"It's wobbling, it's wobbling."

enclosure continues

We have taken a pause with perspective and enclosure for a few weeks, but today, it came back big and strong. While I was busy cleaning the tables after breakfast, instead of reading books, I put the magnatiles on the carpet with their little people.  They soon started making things and putting themselves inside the

creation.

Happy Birthday M!

Today we celebrated another acorns birthday!!

and the Birthday Wall has another piece of art!

Rituals and Traditions, connect us to each other, to our families, to our friends, and to our classroom community.  We are so excited to celebrate each child's birthday, allowing them to paint a picture as they see fit.  Singing them a birthday song, and then adding their painting to the others who have already celebrated.

Finally: Forest Friday!

It has been a few weeks since we have been able to head to the Forest, so everyone was thrilled that we got to go today. There was a little baby tree planted not long ago that the Acorns have been interested in, and today we noticed that someone had placed a little sparkly ribbon on it, so we first stopped to check that out.

The Acorns investigated the plaque in front of it and spent some time trying to read the letters.
Once we were in the Forest, the Acorns split up to head to their favorite spaces. J and C led one group to climb at "Waggy Tail Place," and IR led some other friends to the "tree house." The Acorns have been beginning to show interest in outer space, so some announced that they were at the space station! Others climbed onto the log and said, "look! It's just like a bridge!"

I know I say it a lot, but we are just so lucky to have this space available to us to continually explore our great love of nature. The Acorns truly look forward to our Forest days, and so do we. Have a wonderful weekend!
