Paths with cup

Today friends had the chance to explore creating pathways with cups, using clay pieces and by using tubes taped to the wall.

"It's a forest."

"There is a tunnel right there. If you go that way."

"I made a nest."

"These are my trees."

"My path goes like this."

Today friends headed out into the hallway with the challenge of creating an oval shaped path. We talked about the shape of an oval and how there where straight sides and curved ends and friends worked together to put their pieces together.

A new group heads out to create a Path....

How far did we go?
Before we started, I aske the children how far they thought they could go.  C-  Maple. T- Drinking Fountain. So the drinking fountain was our first conquest.
They started laying out the pieces....
Then they started throwing the pieces.....
We had to stop and re-group.
YAY! We made it to the drinking fountain!

Our second goal was to make it to the wooden chairs in our hallway.....

We almost made it.... Then we needed to clean everything up... and make it to snacktime.

Small Capers

Today we celebrated a birthday! The birthday boy got to pick two friends to help him decorate a coffee filter that we will hang up with our other birthday hoops once it's dry.

Yesterday friends came up with the idea that we needed more pathway pieces so we talked about what we are currently using and what we could use to make more. One friend suggested a box so we found some more pieces in our closest and today friends got to work painting the new pieces during Small Capers.

We also had clay open and friends continued to make "Presents" for the forest or other places.
"I made a bird's nest with eggs inside of it."
Since rearranging our room we've noticed that more friends have been interested in building with blocks.
"I built a boat station. My boats are fragile."

In the Willow Room they had materials open for creating ramps, hair curlers for building and playing house.

"I'm an elephant."

"I'm making soup."
In the Seedling Room friends had the opportunity to paint and explore the materials in their sensory table.

Problem Solving and Empathy

C and M were making a pathway with the large blocks in our classroom and when they completed it, They started to walk on it.  M unfortunately got his foot stuck.
The two worked together to get M unstuck.

M- I'm stuck.
C- I can help. He then started pulling on M's shoe making it worst.
I then asked if pulling was working?
They both said no.
I then asked if they could think of something different.
C- then started pushing M's shoe and set M free!
