On, Under and Risk

We broke into small groups today. One group went to the light atelier, one to the sensory area in 

the gym, and then my group went to the colaboratory.

 Once in the colaboratory, the children chose to explore the large blue blocks, and the ball wall.

They started off wanting a tunnel, which was quickly destroyed. We then built something together.  We observed them wanting to be on and under their constructions.  

 They loved emptying out all the blocks into a large pile. Then, they just jumped on them. After observing that they really wanted to jump off stuff, we collaborated and made something that they could safely jump off of.

We will try again next week....to conquer the jumping!

Red, blue or green birds?

Today our friends were very busy! We started our morning by telling our friends that  we were going on an adventure and that we needed their help. We got a wagon and walked down to the teacher parking lot. Friends waited with DeeDee while I loaded up the wagon with new materials for our classroom then friends all helped us push the wagon back or they carried bags they were all great helpers. 

Once we got back to the Acorn Room we talked about a new pole that's outside one of our windows. We asked our friends what we should do with it and one friend said, "Put raisins on it." I asked "Why?" and he said, "Because I have some in my backpack." He also said, "Birds eat that." We then talked to the whole group about what birds eat and they decided that they eat bird seed and we should put some bird seed out on that pole. We happened to have some bird seed and a bird feeder so then friends all worked together to fill up the bird feeder. We asked friends what kind of birds were going to come to our feeder and some said, "Red birds." Others said, "Blue birds", "Green birds" or "Cardinal birds"

Walking Wednesday

 Today we walked to the forest (bird sanctuary) at Swon and Jefferson.  The children explored the path, faced some challenges and had some success!

 CI- kept coming out of the forest "I can't find the tunnel!"

 "Surprise we found you!"

 They are looking for wild animals, bears, tigers and pigs.

 Look at the strength it took pull themselves up on top of a log, and having the balance to stand on it is amazing! Way to go ACORNS!!

"Purple is everywhere"

Today friends all got a chance to take turns dying some rice. Friends picked out what color they wanted then as they shook up their bags we watched their rice go from white to pink, purple or green.

"I'm shaking it." 

"Mine is turning purple. What color is yours?"
"Mine is turning pink."

"Purple is everywhere."

"I shaked it fast."
